Holiday Weight Gain: how to not let yourself go this season

It’s October 18th, we have just a few days left until October is over, and then the BIG holidays set it. Let’s just be honest, holiday weight gain is a little monster to start watching out for right about now. We’re all excited for the holiday food I imagine. Or maybe that’s just my inner fat child called Bertha speaking. I try my best to not go overboard during the holiday season, but I have to make a concerted effort to actually maintain my weight. I actually believe you can maintain and even lose fat if you’re really ambitious during this time. It is not for the faint of heart and does require hard work and discipline. The two things I have to keep as a priority is my consistent proper nutrition, and exercise routine (weights and cardio) .

Another habit that I believe has worked for me to avoid the dreaded holiday weight gain is that I eat relatively clean throughout the week and allow myself a cheat meal once a week, and I usually work this meal around my events and holiday parties I know I’ll want to splurge at. If for whatever reason I’m feeling extra social and attend more than one event a week, I have to make a choice of which one I’ll want as my cheat meal. This DOES require planning and in no way am I telling you it will be a breeze. However, if you are serious about your health and fitness, you will get through it. This also will become a habit after three weeks or so and will be much easier to do.  Maybe you super popular ladies will have these tough decisions to make but for me this has worked for a few years now.

This is a simple outfit you can easily wear whether you’re going out on a jog, a bike ride, or a gym session. If you’re in Utah, its slowly working its way to the colder winter temperatures, but it’s still not snowing and the temperature is still bearable if you’re an outside runner/biker. But feel free to add your workout sweater or scarf to this as you need.
